Before I visited my friend in North Carolina I hadn't realised that the Outer Banks were so extensive and would be so productive photographically. They also were where the Wright brothers made the first powered flight and I did make a brief stop to see the bronze sculpture at Kitty Hawk. I soon went to Pea Island Reserve on the Outer Banks which held lots of ducks, Tundra Swans and an increasing number of wintering Snow Geese. Again we had the reserve nearly to ourselves which was a bonus along with helpful reserve volunteers.
