The sheer numbers of King Penguins in the colonies at Salisbury Plain and St Andrews Bay is difficult to take in and impossible to estimate. They must be one of the most spectacular wildlife sights anywhere in the world and we felt privileged to have spent time at them. As well as trying to photograph them, we also made time to take in the sights and sounds by just looking. Our favourite spot was on the beach at the end of the river in the image below looking up through the colony with the snow clad mountains in the background.
