California Sea Lions were especially approachable at Isla Los Isotes during our recent whale watching trip. It was very enjoyable, if somewhat unnerving, snorkeling with these expert swimmers. Most of the Northern Elephant seals we saw had been born this year and had been left by their mothers to fend for themselves. These 'weaners' would eventually venture into the sea to catch their own fish when hunger took over.
