Our contact in Iceland, Daniel Bergmann, had alerted us about a small volcano that was erupting that was reasonably approachable. Never having photographed erupting volcanoes before I booked a flight. Unfortunately before I got there the 'tourist volcano' had stopped erupting. However a day later the Eyjafjallajokull volcano started and disrupted air travel over most of western Europe for a number of days. Fortunately I did manage to get to Iceland although we had to fly a long western loop to get there and had a 10 hour wait in Glasgow on the way home to London Heathrow. The weather wasn't great for much of my time in Iceland but fortunately one day was clear.
