The Forest of Dean has become well known  for the wild boar that have recently become more common. Evidence of their foraging on the side of the roads around the Forest is easy to see but seeing the boar themselves is less easy. Perseverance and luck are the two main assets in getting to see the boar. Unfortunately I haven't been very lucky but recently I came across a sow with seven young piglets that allowed  me to follow them for over half an hour. The sow didn't mind my presence even when the piglets ran up to me for a closer look, she even laid down and suckled her young.
