We have visited Bulgaria on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed the wildlife and observing the transformation from a Russian satellite state to a full EU member. The most obvious change has been in the cars, from Trabants and Moskvich's to BMW's and VW's and of course prices but the housing stock has still some way to go. My visit this time was targeting Golden Eagles and Griffon Vultures and it proved reasonably successful although, with the weather being exceptionally mild, the birds did not visit the feeding sites as much as I had hoped and many of the visits were early or late in poor light.
