We were very fortunate during our recent trip to the Cairngorms to coincide with a mass influx of Waxwings. According to which report you looked at there were between 500 and 1000 in Aviemore itself with numerous sightings in  many of the adjacent towns. As usual with Waxwings in the winter they had very little fear of people or traffic and would attack en masse any tree laden with berries. Fortunately Aviemore had plenty of these when we arrived however there where not many when we left as 500 Waxwings soon make their mark.
