Hverir, near Lake Myvatn, is a geothermal area I have visited a few times before, however I certainly have never done it justice photographically. This time we arrived quite late on a dull evening and the colours of the mud pools and especially of the dried mud seemed to be so much more intense than I remembered them. This was certainly my best attempt trying to convey the visual impact, if not the smell, of this fascinating area.
