At one of the drinking pools during a recent visit to Spain, besides getting very hot and sticky in the concrete bunker/hide, we were treated to a rare visit from a Short Toed Eagle. It tried to drink from the drinking trough set up for small birds but had great difficulty filling its beak in the extremely shallow water. The Eagle stayed for at least 15 minutes which meant we could obtain both 'normal' size images and close up had shots with the 500mm lens. It made up for all that sweating! Cirl Bunting was another good bird to visit the drinking trough.
