The most frequent visitors when I was in the lying down hide during my trip to the Danube Delta were Wood Sandpipers. They would work their way along the edge of the river with their feet mainly in the vegetation looking for food. One then came very close to the hide and started bathing in a small puddle just to my left. It was a struggle to get my lens around enough in the cramped hide without disturbing the bird. It was also a bit close so large in the fame but just about acceptable. Late in the day a Green Sandpiper came and also fed along the river edge.
