I had visited Minsmere RSPB reserve on a couple of previous occasions but never in the winter so I was pleased to spend a week in the area this January. The weather was reasonably kind with some clear skies giving good light but also frosts which meant much of the open water near the hides was frozen for most of the week. The highlights of the week were undoubtedly the Bearded Reedlings which proved elusive but I did manage to catch up with them a couple of times and once in almost perfect light. As always there seemed to be reed in the way of that perfect shot or the birds would move just as I managed to line up for a shot.
