As we drove north of Julatten the habitat gradually became dryer and by the time we arrived at Mount Carbine Caravan Park it was very arid. The owner of the Caravan Park was very helpful and, for the payment of a small fee, we were given free range of the Park. The undoubted highlight was watching and photographing the Great Bowerbird tending his bower. It was right next to the main track out of the Park so was well used to people, and I suspect photographers, which was an added bonus. Most of the decoration outside the bower was broken glass with bits of colourful plastic to top off the display!
