The Steller's Eiders in Batsfjord harbour were slightly more wary of the floating hides so we were always on the look out when one came close enough to photograph. The male looks like it has a massive eye but of course it is normal size surrounded by black feathers. The little green tuft of feathers on the back of their heads was most unusual. Thankfully the females were very different from those of the King and Common Eiders making them easy to identify.  As well as the ducks, we enjoyed photographing the Kittiwakes which sometimes came near the hides.
