It has been a long time since we had visited Anglesey but a meeting up with old friends nearby gave us the chance to spend a few days on the Island. Our first port of call was to Cemlyn Lagoon on the North coast. This is the only Welsh Sandwich Tern colony and together with the Arctic and Common Terns which also nest there and the easy access make this an ideal place for Tern flight photography. The birds were streaming in from the sea and flying over our heads onto the lagoon. We ended up here on the three evenings we were on Anglesey and were rewarded eventually with great late evening light. Arctic Terns were the least common of the three species of Terns. Unfortunately there weren't any Roseate Terns about.
