CHOBE WITH PANGOLIN

Pre Covid we had three foreign trips booked which obviously were put on hold. After a great deal of thought and heartache we finally decided it was time to take the plunge and we rearranged our trip to Botswana. This was in two main parts, the first was four days at Pangolin Photo Safaris on the Chobe River in the North of Botswana while the second was a 23 day mobile Safari covering a number of areas of Botswana. The first part at Pangolin was excellent with great photographic opportunities primarily from their excellent adapted boats on the Chobe and also from the more traditional safari vehicles. We would highly recommend Pangolin, unfortunately the same couldn't be said for the second part of our trip to Botswana. The wildlife was great and we certainly saw some different parts of Botswana but the organization was poor and the customer care and hospitality was almost non-existent. Over the month we were away we took a vast amount of images which will take us a long time to process. Therefore we are processing and updating the website in sections and hope you will keep coming back to the website to see the updates.. The first section will be our best images from our stay at Pangolin. The boats Pangolin use are adapted so 8 people sit in a row, each with a fixed Gimbal head and room to get down low to the edge of the boat. The guide and skilful driver will certainly get you into the best position for photography and the rest is up to you! The light was superb early and late for each of our days although we didn't go out a couple of times in the boat as the wind was too strong. The most obvious bird on the river was the African Jacana, also known as a 'Lily trotter', they seemed to be everywhere. They made for great subjects in the early or late light especially when they weren't obscured by vegetation and when they were close to the lovely white water lilies. As you can see, they have huge feet to help stop them from sinking when they walk across the vegetation.
