KALAHARI

When we finally arrived in the Kalahari we enjoyed the small part that we explored although the nights were cold and the days very warm. The Kalahari is such a large area we only scratched the surface and we could happily have spent more time there. Maybe a case for another trip with another operator. Mammals were the main focus here and they were easy to find grazing and hunting on the open pans although being restricted to the road they had to be on the right side for photography. Springbok and Southern Oryx were in good numbers and were both new to us. The Springbok were great subjects as they would be grazing and then suddenly one or two would start play fighting and they seemed to set off the rest of the males who would run about at top speed and also jump up in the air in a very distinctive and unusual maneuver.
