We spent our last couple of hours in the Arfak mountains in a hide in front of a bower of the Vogelkop Bowerbird. The construction is fantastic and seems way over the top but it obviously attracts the female. It was a shame but a sign of the times that the male was collecting blue plastic bottle tops to adorn his bower as well as more traditional fruits.  The bird was about the size of a Thrush so this gives you some idea how huge his bower was.
