The Coronavirus Pandemic has been a real shock to us all with the UK being one of the hardest hit countries. It has meant that we are likely to miss three foreign trips this year but that is a minor irritation compared with what many people are going through. It is difficult to imagine what could have interfered more with life all around the globe. Not only is this a human tragedy but it will have major impacts on habitats (Amazon deforestation seems to increasing) and we fear for the future of some of the endangered species we have been lucky enough to encounter in various parts of the world, without the income they normally get from tourism. Let's hope an effective vaccine is not too long in coming. In the meantime we have been locked down at home and have been so glad we have a large garden and can go for a walk from home in the lovely Forest of Dean. With less people about in the Forest the wildlife has become bolder and we have been seeing Wild Boar and Deer much closer to home. We have done surprisingly little photography, instead spending the time trying to bring our wildlife garden under a bit more control and growing some vegetables for the first time in a few years. We also put up a number of nest boxes and have had a couple of occupants which was good to see. One of the tit boxes is in a good position for photography and with the help of a low scaffolding tower we have spent an hour or so in the late evening photographing the adults flying to the box with food for their hungry chicks.
