Most of the Black Bears we photographed during our recent trip to the Great Bear Rainforest were at 'fishing spots' on rivers within the rainforest. Photographically it was a challenge as when the sun was out, not very often it has to be said, it produced a lot of contrast between the black of the bear in the shadow and the bright shafts of sunlight. When the sun wasn't out it was better as it produced more even light but as we were in forest the light levels were low and it was invariably raining! However the experience of watching a wild bear fishing and eating salmon less than 10 yards away is hard to beat.
