The second half of my recent Iceland trip saw both of us on the Snaefellsnes peninsula where we had time to slowly explore some of the more remote areas that our small hire car would allow. We particular enjoyed the Berserkjahraun lava field with its mix of autumn colours, snow covered peaks and surreal lava formations. The fact that we didn't see anybody else along 'our' track probably had something to do with it as well.
