Sutherland has become one of our firm favourites for landscape photography over the last couple of years. This autumn we decided to base ourselves further north than we have done before opening up new areas without long travelling times. Our week was very good weather wise but really too clear for landscape photography for much of the week followed by a couple of days with driving rain and gales, that's Scotland for you! Sandwood Bay was a particular target for us as we had heard so much about it. We walked the four miles each way on two occasions and were rewarded with a great sunset the second time. The walk back in the dark was a bit of a trudge but the bellowing red deer, calling golden plover, a red grouse and nearly a full moon certainly helped us on our way back to the car.
