Svalbard is on many wildlife photographers wish list and this year we fulfilled our ambition to visit this most wildlife rich archipelago. The primary goal was to view Polar Bears out on the pack ice from a cruise ship. Before we left on our ship we spent a day around the capital Longyearbyen and photographing from our rental car. Once out of town Polar Bears are a danger and when one of us left the car we stayed relatively close to it while the other one kept a close eye out for Polar bears. Thankfully we both survived to tell the tale and didn't see any bears. We had been told by the rental company that the road past the airport (there was only one other road) was good for Arctic Foxes. This usually means one was spotted a long time ago and only once, however this was not the case this time and we saw four foxes. They seemed reasonably tolerant of humans and one went under the decking of a cabin and went to sleep.
