Little Auks can be seen in the UK, normally after a large storm wrecks some on the East coast but we wanted to see them at one of their colonies. Thankfully we came across a colony close to Longyearbyen when we had our rental car. Initially we took shots of them flying around the scree slopes below their nesting cliffs. After a while one of us scrambled up the slope while the other one was on Polar bear watch. The Little Auks or Dovekies were quite tolerant which was good as it impossible to approach them quietly over the scree slopes.
