The Lava Gull is one of the rarest Gulls in the world with only about 400 pairs, all in the Galapagos. They are scavengers and are scattered throughout most of the islands. There are up to seven species of Lava Lizard throughout the Galapagos and are a common sight warming themselves up on rocks. The Lava Heron is similar to the Green heron but has evolved darker feathers to blend in with the lava when it is feeding.
