Spain has been a frequent destination for me in the last few years for wildlife photography but I had never photographed or even seen Spanish Ibex. A brief visit in November, guided by Jose from Hides de Caldera, soon rectified that! We spent a full day in the Gredos Mountains, an hour or so west of Madrid and followed a herd for most of the day. We were expecting a longish hike to find them but they were only about 10 minutes from the car park which was good as I had decided to carry the 500mm lens. I could probably have done without it but it did come in useful shooting across the gorge which meant we were level with the Ibex.
