Ruff are unusual for a bird that leks that they do not call on the leking ground but they are great to watch as they jump up and strut about trying to impress the females. Sometimes the females came down onto the leking ground but the males just carried on displaying and completely ignored the females. The lighter coloured Ruff seemed to do the most jumping while the darker ones did the strutting.
