David Attenborough has a lot to answer for, ever since we watched his Bird of Paradise (BOP) quest, we have wanted to try to photograph them in New Guinea. So when we found a photographic trip to Papua New Guinea (PNG) we signed on. Unfortunately it was ultimately disappointing for photographing them although we did see eight Bird of Paradise species and many other exotic birds as well as the rich cultural heritage of PNG. The only BOP we did manage to photograph to a decent standard was the Raggiana BOP and then only after a 5 hour wait and up into a bright sky through a very tiny gap in the trees.
