One of the commonest birds we saw in the highland area of Papua New Guinea was the Smoky Honeyeater. This had a bare skin patch around its eye that the bird seemed to be able to change colour from yellow to red as it wanted although why it did so was unclear. These images were taken from the feeding table detailed in the previous page.
