When we booked our trip to Papua New Guinea it seemed obvious to spend some more time in Australia especially as we had never been there before. Having consulted with friends and done the obligatory internet searches, we decided to fly to Brisbane from the UK, spend a few days with a very helpful and accommodating friend then go to Papua New Guinea. We then flew back to Cairns in Far North Queensland from where we spent almost three weeks exploring north of Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands. The Australia leg of our trip was all and more we had hoped for with fabulous weather and birds and helpful, friendly locals. Our list of lifers grew everyday as did the number of images.
