We went to Bromfield crater a number of evenings trying to photograph the Sarus Cranes coming into roost. Unfortunately they came in when the light had gone but this was still a great spectacle. While waiting one evening a pair of Black Shouldered Kites spent a good half an hour flying around each other in what must have been a display flight. The wind was in the wrong direction as they were usually facing away but occasionally they would fly towards me. It was certainly a struggle to catch them in the camera as they were flying very fast and very erratically. My arms certainly ached after waving the 500mm lens around for a while. During a picnic stop we noticed a Nankeen Kestrel hunting in the adjoining field and we managed to catch a few images of it hunting.
