Centenary Lakes was another favourite area of Cairns, particularly at dawn. We watched the Orange Scrubfowl digging out a nest hole one morning only for the park staff to have filled it in by the next day. We assumed this was a constant battle between them! Willie Wagtails were probably the most ubiquitous bird we saw in Queensland which seemed to  be common in most types of habitat.
