No visit to Eastern Australia would be complete without visiting the Great Barrier Reef so off we went on  a boat to Michaelmas Cay on the reef. The Cay itself is very small and almost entirely covered with breeding birds. Thankfully there is a small roped off area on the beach for the visiting humans. We spent the morning photographing the birds as they came back to the Cay while the rest of the tourists snorkeled on the reef. We then moved to Hastings Reef in the afternoon where I enjoyed an hour snorkeling.
