As well as Pine Grosbeaks coming to the feeders in Northern Finland it was also good to see and photograph the northern Siberian Tit. The few Great Tits and the single Blue Tit were a bit more of a surprise at these latitudes. The highlight was definitely the fantastic display of Northern Lights we experienced when we stayed here again on the way back from Norway. All the forecasts were for the last Friday to be the best but we went outside on the Thursday night in hope and were well rewarded with clear skies and about three hours of the most incredible display we have seen. Friday night was partly cloudy and nowhere near as good so we glad we had ventured out on the Thursday. Thankfully all the gear worked in the extreme cold, including our fingers! The Northern Lights were going from horizon to horizon which our 17mm lens couldn't record and unfortunately we don't have a wider lens.
