LATEST IMAGES - ORKNEY2

Gannets  were breeding on the cliffs at Noup Head RSPB Reserve on Westray Island in the Orkneys but it was difficult to take images other than flight shots looking slightly down on them. Kittiwakes were also breeding and we enjoyed talking images of them flying back from a rocky beach over the top of the cliffs carrying nesting material. Thankfully we had one beautifully clear and calm day so we went on the passenger ferry to the smaller island of Papa Westray (where the last Great Auk was shot) and hired bikes for the day. This we thoroughly enjoyed with the highlight being seeing Scottish Primrose in flower (thanks to the directions given to us by the Ranger Jonathan!). We took a few images but hadn't taken the tripod because we were cycling but thankfully we saw this beautiful, tiny flower again during trip so we did manage some images which will be on later pages.
