More images from North West Mainland Orkney. The Oystercatcher and Eider were nesting on the same sea stack as the Arctic Terns, it would have been interesting to see how the chicks reached the bottom! The Sand Martins were nesting in a sand bank at the top of the beach by the causeway to the Brougb of Birsay. There were lots of people about so the birds didn't seem to mind us putting up our tripods near to the bank. We came across the Great Skuas feeding on two dead Greylag Geese near the road. Not sure how the geese died but the Skuas were enjoying them.
