Most winters a Great Grey Shrike  has returned to the same area and seems to be reasonably tolerant of people provided they keep to the designated paths. Recently we spent a couple of half days trying for some decent images. Previously we have tried with a 500mm lens and a tripod which was fine once you got close but, as the Shrike is usually very mobile, it was a pain carrying the heavy lens and tripod around. This year we tried with the new R5 and the 800mm F11 lens, it is much lighter and doesn't need any setting up once you get close. The Great Grey Shrike seemed to alternate between catching Common Lizards and large Beetles when we were there.
