Most of the wintering ducks had departed from the Avalon Marshes by the time of our April visit but there were good numbers of Gadwall. On the water they are quite plain but in flight the males have very attractive if subtle colouring in their wings and eventually we managed a few shots of them turning towards us as well as some group shots.
