Something we had never done before was to watch starlings leaving their overnight roost at dawn so as they had roosted only a few minutes from where we were staying we thought we would give it a go. One minute they were chattering away and the next they all seemed to take off at once and were all gone in a very short space of time. We had to be quick to capture any images so we were glad to have two goes, we also tried taking some video which was quite effective.
