Our original plan for our trip to Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland was to concentrate our efforts on the RSPB Reserve at Mersehead and the WWT reserve at Caerlaverock for the wintering geese and swans. We knew there had been Otters seen in Dumfries town but since the recent floods they had kept away. Fortunately just before we arrived they (there were at least three different ones) had made a return to the town. Plans changed and we spent most of our time during our two week stay, in Dumfries looking for the Otters. There were a number of other photographers around which helped find the Otters along quite a stretch of the River Nith. There are probably going to be too many Otter images on the next few pages but it is not every day you can see Otters in broad daylight with lots of people watching them. After the first couple of days it was a matter of trying to take images we hadn't already taken.
