We only missed out on seeing any Otters in Dumfries on one day during our recent trip. Most days it was very dull and we were forced to use high ISO settings but thankfully the cameras are so much better at high ISO's than even a couple of years ago. Unfortunately we missed out on the best day for light as we decided to have a break and went to the RSPB Reserve at Mersehead instead. The Otters were mainly catching either Lampreys, Eels or small fish. The Fish they normally ate in the river but the Eels and Lampreys were a bit more tricky to handle so were often taken to the bank to eat..
