Hummingbird photography became a bit addictive and with the fast frame rates of modern cameras it was always a surprise how many images we had taken each day. Even after an initial cull of images with no or partial birds in the frame, it was still a bit of a slog downloading and backing up the images each evening before dinner. The Great Sapphirewing was one of the largest Hummingbirds we saw with a body length 15-17cm, there was a marked difference between the male and female. The male Green Thorntail was very distinctive with it's long tail.
