My favourite spot during my recent trip to East Yorkshire was Filey Brigg. It is a small headland very close to Filey and it attracted a number of waders to its rocky base. Luckily the tides were in my favour allowing me to get onto the rocks as the tide was coming in but still left me plenty of time to get back to the safety of the top of the Brigg before the tide cut me off. I was surprised and pleased to find a few Curlew Sandpipers that allowed a close approach with careful stalking but I do wish I had some knee pads. The Curlew Sandpipers were still showing a bit of their breeding plumage.
