After our manic Gannet feeding boat trip with Steve Race where we felt we perhaps hadn't made the best of it, we went further up the coast to Filey Brigg. This is a great place in the winter for waders and there is a nice walk along the top of the Brigg. When we got there we were surprised to see Gannets plunge diving just off the rocks in excellent light so out came the cameras again! Luckily the tide had turned and the stone path and rocks just under the Brigg were exposed so we could try and get close to the gannets. Both the path and rocks were extremely slippery so it was slow progress with the camera gear and as the light was rapidly fading, we decided to photograph the Gannets from a little further away than was ideal. As there were fewer Gannets and they were more spaced out, it was easier to follow individual birds down into the water so we had a great end to a very busy and productive day but if only we had got to the Brigg an hour earlier!
